L’objectif est d’élaborer deux catégorisations de pensée statistique dans un groupe d’élèves: 1) utiliser une adaptation du modèle générique « Structure of Observed Learning Outcomes (SOLO) (classement des résultats d’apprentissage observés)» et 2) faire une description de la façon dont les étudiants abordent le cycle « PPDAC (Problem, Plan, Data, Analysis, Conclusions) (problème, plan, données, analyse, conlusions)» en classant les types de pensée dans les catégories proposées par Wild et Pfannkuch. Pour cette recherche, le concept de la règle empirique et une application pratique créée par les étudiants ont été choisis, en utilisant une méthodologie descriptive, allant de la formulation d’un problème à leurs conclusions, tirées de la pensée statistique dans la recherche empirique. Il existe un intérêt croissant pour la recherche en mathématiques éducatives dans le domaine de la didactique des probabilités, où ont été révélées les principales difficultés que rencontrent les étudiants dans la compréhension des concepts liés à l’induction statistique.
